The adolescence time period of one’s life proves to be one of the most enjoyable times of one’s life. However, it also tends to bring about major difficulties and challenges. It’s not all fun; it’s hard. And it’s much harder for girls than guys. Socially guys and girls are held to high standards, they also have high expectations for their future career and life, and face different issues when it comes to high school and college relationships. Although both sexes have similar issues, girls have a much harder time during adolescence. In today’s social life girls have a more difficult time. It’s a two part equation. First, is the superficial aspect of our society. We, as a society, display and worship women with unnatural or unapproachable†¦show more content†¦Although this is a difficulty, the social expectations and stresses are much greater for girls than guys. As well as being held to ridiculous social standards girls have a lot of pressure for their futures. I’m not saying guys don’t have this pressure, because they do. They are expected to be the breadwinner and take care of the family. That is a lot of pressure. However, guys have always had this pressure; traditionally they’ve always been expected to be the breadwinner. Today’s generation of girls, on the other hand, is expected to go away from the normal and go to college and get a job. They are expected to continue to break through the gender barrier and be intelligent working women. Although I may not agree with it, being a housewife is now socially looked down upon. Therefore girls are expected to lead this charge and be productive working citizens in their future. Now this isn’t a bad thing, however it is a heavy pressure and weight that is placed upon young girl’s backs. Nonetheless, for both sexes, the pressure of future expectations is a big stress on kids. The last large aspect of adolescence life is relationships. Now these present many different issues for both sexes. First of all when a guy is involved with many girls he is labeled as a player, or at worst a â€Å"douchebag†. Girls are viewed in a much harsher light. They will be labeled as a â€Å"slut† or a â€Å"hoe†.
