The socialite model of showcasing focuses on the lists if people to attend short the hard sell, he says. Individual voice-unmistakable style Every extravagance brand needs to build up a promoting procedure that causes them accomplish their advertising objectives, but on the other hand is in accordance with their image. For instance, while it bodes well for Christopher Bailey from Burberry to refresh the Burberry Facebook page with short recordings he makes or music he underpins, a similar kind of technique probably won't work for somebody like Bentley or Rolex. Bijoor says that for extravagance brands, sell is a four-letter word and not simply actually and that is the reason they focus on purchase. Extravagance brands like to be purchased, not sold, he says. Sell is a top-down methodology which includes a component of yell you requesting that shoppers think about you. Purchase, rather, is a draw arranged system. Extravagance brands love pull not push, he clarifies. This is perfect for the socialite showcasing where the discussion with the brand is increasingly visual and not aural.

Individualism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Independence - Essay Example These thoughts are very valuable for me as an individual and resound flawlessly well with the dreams I have, this is in spite of the variety of the points of view that the essayists powerful. I accept that they identify with me particularly during this time of 2013. Emerson in his composing demonstrates what he sees with the stanzas composed by famous painter that â€Å"†¦Let the subject be what it might. The feeling they make is of more significant than any thought they may contain†¦Ã¢â‚¬ when thinking sheer from musings to feelings, at that point the profession of individual thinking is blurred by the cultural notions which is constantly influenced by promulgation and absence of thinking. Emerson further notes that â€Å"...We however half delineate ourselves, and are embarrassed about that divine thought which every one of us depict in the society†¦Ã¢â‚¬ these estimations focuses to the way that we create sentiments that we accept concerns the following party. Disgrace as a feeling compels us to consider significantly increasingly about the sentiments of others dependent on our activities. I accept that what is right is right and anything that isn't right isn't right .Standard ought to be set without anyone else to guarantee that we live our potential as opposed to those people who may not really share our perspectives and considerations. In his composition to uncover absence of self-trust, Emerson focuses the contention that â€Å"†¦accepts the situation the heavenly feature has set for you, the present society, just as the between association of events†¦Ã¢â‚¬ This contention has an immediate disclosure of how the general public limits individuals into traditional reasoning. It confines development and makes nobody to think diversely regardless of whether similar techniques make no improvement in the life of the people in that specific culture. In the works that uncover the job of the young people, Emerson draws out into th e open to the proposal that â€Å"†¦Do not be hoodwinked that the adolescents don't have any impact in the general public, since they can't represent themselves. Behold! In the following room their voices are viably unmistakable and decided. It is clear that they can talk in the present society. Shy or intense, there comes when they will make their seniors superfluous in the society†¦Ã¢â‚¬ In the contention, it is obvious that the young people have no state, maybe in light of the fact that they are not permitted dependent on conventions and culture. Their latent capacity is uncovered and they vitality isn't sufficiently depleted. The general public can't think and has set time bomb for not permitting the young people to think as well, in spite of their capacity to think. The contention shows that the mature age has would not take into account the inescapable changes and this incapacitates the general public. Emerson uncovers the solace depicted among the young individua ls from the general public. In the compositions, he focuses that â€Å"†¦The lack of concern gathering of young men who are sure of supper, and would disdain and carry on like masters to accommodate one, is the solid highlights of human nature†¦Ã¢â‚¬ He shows that this raises untrustworthy and problematic individuals from the general public. I trust Emerson is abundantly keen on uncovering what job is played by the individualistic character to guarantee that the youngsters develop to be both pioneering and confident. Placing them in a safe place does not the slightest bit permit them to comprehend the outcomes of the activities that they make. A general public that isn't inventive can as

To go home or to stay home

To go home or to stay home As I’m starting to write this, I’m sitting on an airplane, my rear end seriously sore from ~6 hours in one seat. I’m 24 minutes out from Los Angeles, and I can’t wait to spend Thanksgiving with my family. At 6:00 this morning I was tugging my carry-on across MIT’s campus on the way to the Kendall T-station. Let me give you an idea of exactly how early (late?) 6:00 at MIT is. As I made the familiar trek past MacGregor, BC, Baker, McCormick, and Maseeh, the broad avenue of dorm row was completely desolate. When I stepped into Lobby 7 and peered down the Infinite Corridor, I could see clear through to the other side. The entire hallway was EMPTY. I saw more bunnies while walking past East Campus than I did human beings. I had never even pictured the school so empty! My grandpa always used to say, “Walk in like you own the place.” Marching through the Infinite in the middle of night, it struck me that this was my school. Long after the sun went down and people went home, I still lived here. I belonged at MIT. I think that at some point in every college student’s career, they realize that when they depart from campus to go visit their family, they’re no longer “going home”, they’re “leaving home.” Or maybe both. I’m still trying to find out where I stand on that blurry line. While looking at colleges, I was pretty conflicted about whether I wanted to stay close to home (potentially as close as a half-hour drive) or move very far away (Boston). Before coming to MIT, I had lived in the same city in the same house in Los Angeles for all of my 18 years. Life in the San Fernando Valley was all I had ever experienced. Plus, I have a very close relationship with my family. At my high school, one of my best friends was my younger brother. After coming home from school each afternoon, I would wind down by joking and chatting with my brothers and mom. A lot of the time, the highlights of my day and the events that I looked forward to each week revolved around spending time with that group of people that I love more than anyone else. In the back of my mind, I wondered if moving across the country to school was taking a huge risk. I would be overhauling every aspect of my current life. On one hand, the idea of attending MIT was ridiculously exciting. But on the other hand, I would be leaving my only geographic home and removing myself from the people that made me really happy. A niggling part of me wondered if I was being foolish to let go of the parts of my current life that I cherished most. Heading into orientation, I just knew that I would get homesick. I predicted and accepted that I would miss my family miserably for a month or so before I adjusted to a new environment and began to enjoy everything that MIT had to offer. So I was totally unprepared for how it actually happened. My first week in Boston was spent doing an incredibly fun and action-packed FPOP (Freshman Pre-Orientation Program) and scouting out REX (Residential Exploration) activities. (You should read all about it here. Because both my FPOP and REX were beyond incredibly awesome.) Between playing the role of an enraged Samuel Adams during a reenactment of the pre-Boston Tea Party, experimenting with marshmallow guns, bussing out to Concord to visit the site of the first Revolutionary battle, waging a water war, analyzing some of the coolest art I’ve ever seen at the outdoor deCordova, and eating way too much free food, I had no time to pine over being away from home and no energy left at the end of the day to do anything but make the most of 8 hours of sleep. More significantly, I think I was in a state of mild euphoria from the excess of new friends and creativity and exciting opportunities around me. I figured that when classes started and the work of psets replaced the play of REX, some melancholy would start setting in. It never really did. Sure, there would be a day every once in a while when I felt lonely or missed home. But I never experienced the gut-punching pain of separation that I was banking on. I’ve found that being away from home, living in Boston and at MIT, is so much an expansion of my horizons that I never felt a dearth of company or good spirits. The life that I gained by moving to MIT is so much richer in a lot of ways than the one I left in high school that I dont feel any sort of void left behind. I’ve enjoyed myself so much meeting so many friendly, down-to-Earth, fun people that I’m beginning to question my self-classification as an introvert. I’m challenged in my classes in ways I never was in high school. I’m reveling in being in a new charming, historical, explorable city, a refreshing change from the familiar highways of L.A. I’m enjoying the independence of cooking for myself, planning my own schedule, and public transportation. :) I still miss my family. I FaceTime them every night (I’m in the minority; most people seem to call every week or so). My dad will want to know what fun plans I have for the weekend and my mom will share her latest sewing project that apparently my brothers didn’t fully appreciate. Sharing this moment with my family every evening is absolutely one of the reasons I never got seriously homesick. In fact, I never left behind the most precious part of homeâ€"the ability to spend time with and talk to the people I love most. I still feel like I have some work to do in terms of really settling in at MIT. I’m still trying to figure out what extracurricular activities I want to dedicate myself to. I want to keep expanding my friend groupâ€"I feel like everyone on campus is worth meeting! Plus, there’s the thorny question of figuring out for certain what I want to do with the rest of my life. :/ There’s no question that adjusting to MIT takes some time. It stretches and challenges you academically, socially, and personally. That’s why I’m glad to have the opportunity to head home for a few days over Thanksgiving break. It’s nice to take a step back from school and return to the comfort of home and the support of people who love you. I’m looking forward to baking with my mom, losing to my dad and brothers in Mario Cart, cuddling with my doggie (because therapy dogs, I’m sorry to admit, just don’t cut it), and decorating our Christmas tree together. It’s an incredible thing to be in an environment where you are perfectly loved and accepted, and where you are able to effortlessly enjoy yourself with the people around you. I’m lucky enough that those people are my family. As exhilarating as it is to expand one’s horizons, sometimes you still crave the warmth of home. You need to make room for new adventures, stresses, and ideas to enter your life, while not letting go of the environments and relationships you already cherish. This is the trade-off between staying home and going away for college, the dilemma between feeling homesick and reveling in new opportunities. But right now I’ve got to drag myself out of bed, eat pumpkin pie and cheesecake for breakfast, and prepare myself to select and decorate an absurdly large Christmas tree. Merry start-of-Christmas and have a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Harry Potter and The Astrology Signs - Free Essay Example

Harry Potter: Leo Leos are the center of attention so it makes sense that the main character would be a Leo. While Leos usually have a pompous air, they arent egomaniacs. They are natural born leaders, and people look to you to show them the way. The book makes it clear that Harry is the leader of the group. The plus side of being these qualities are that you attract loyal friends, who youll do anything to protect. Ron and Hermione are some of the most loyal friends, and for Harry to get not only one but two best mates, that would follow him on any adventure, he must have a presence that makes people want to follow him. The downside is that it seems like everything is always happening to you. Luckily, theyve got the strength of character to weather any storm (but seriously, you wouldnt mind taking a break from the spotlight once in a while). A personality trait that most Leos have is that they embrace being the center of attention. Harry doesnt love the spotlight, it just kind of finds him. Birthday July 31 Leo Most of the personality traits of a Leo fit Harry perfectly. With everything from his leadership ability and loyalty, to his need to be in charge and sometimes off-putting dominance, Harry Potter is a natural born Leo. Ron Weasley: Taurus Tauruss are dependable (or as some might put it, stubborn), and you make great friends. They like comforts to enjoy the comforts of life and you wouldnt turn down a little extra cash so some people mistake them for shallow. Ron is a very loyal friend and has definitely been called stubborn once or twice throughout the book. He is also well known to eat a hearty meal. Ron didnt come from a wealthy family so he is very likely to enjoy a couple extra galleons when given, but hes not shallow at all: his emotions run deep, far deeper than anyone around him knows. Even though his stubbornness counters it sometimes, he still knows how to have fun. Birthday March 1 Pisces Those born under the zodiac sign Pisces are daydreamers their mind leans towards the fantastical and mystical. They are brooding by nature, and this can lead others to find them either intriguing and mysterious or other times boring or too quiet.. They care deeply for others, and Pisces can barely stand to see their loved ones unhappy. Ron does exhibit some of these qualities, such as brooding, or caring for others (even if he does have the emotional range of a teaspoon). But he isnt exactly a daydreamer or do people find him intriguing, as he says many times during the book that he is overlooked because his best friend is the boy-who-lived. So while he does have lots of qualities of Pisces I find that he is better fitting as a Taurus. Hermione Granger: Virgo August 23 September 22 A Virgo is someone who is altruistic, logical, responsible, and organized. Hermione is all of these things. In the first book, she makes many comments about how she already studied the curriculum and she stresses to the boys the importance of not breaking rules. People born under the astrology sign Virgo also have downfalls, they can be obsessive, critical, and perfectionists. Hermione exerts all of these quirks. She often talks down to Harry and Ron, even if she doesnt know shes doing it. She is also at the top of her class because she takes her grades so seriously. Birthday September 19 Virgo This means that she was born under the astrological sign that I thought she would. Hermione is almost the perfect example of a Virgo when you compare traits. Throughout the series, the author, J.K. Rowling, bases a multitude of things off of the stars. Among these are names (Sirius-the Dog, Regulus, Orion, ) She makes it a point to give her character the qualities to match that of their zodiac sign and even made it a class in the later books. It is clear that she believes in more magic than that of the kind she writes about. I would Also like to say that I am a Leo. I dont have many qualities of the Leo other than loyal to friends so this shows that our zodiac sign is not always a great estimate of character, but it is fun to compare your friends personalities to the one the sky seems to believe that they have.

Adolescence Essay - 933 Words

The adolescence time period of one’s life proves to be one of the most enjoyable times of one’s life. However, it also tends to bring about major difficulties and challenges. It’s not all fun; it’s hard. And it’s much harder for girls than guys. Socially guys and girls are held to high standards, they also have high expectations for their future career and life, and face different issues when it comes to high school and college relationships. Although both sexes have similar issues, girls have a much harder time during adolescence. In today’s social life girls have a more difficult time. It’s a two part equation. First, is the superficial aspect of our society. We, as a society, display and worship women with unnatural or unapproachable†¦show more content†¦Although this is a difficulty, the social expectations and stresses are much greater for girls than guys. As well as being held to ridiculous social standards girls have a lot of pressure for their futures. I’m not saying guys don’t have this pressure, because they do. They are expected to be the breadwinner and take care of the family. That is a lot of pressure. However, guys have always had this pressure; traditionally they’ve always been expected to be the breadwinner. Today’s generation of girls, on the other hand, is expected to go away from the normal and go to college and get a job. They are expected to continue to break through the gender barrier and be intelligent working women. Although I may not agree with it, being a housewife is now socially looked down upon. Therefore girls are expected to lead this charge and be productive working citizens in their future. Now this isn’t a bad thing, however it is a heavy pressure and weight that is placed upon young girl’s backs. Nonetheless, for both sexes, the pressure of future expectations is a big stress on kids. The Novel, And As The Film Unfolds - 898 Words

â€Å"I won t be a carer any more come the end of the year, and though I ve got a lot out of it, I have to admit I ll welcome the chance to rest—to stop and think and remember. I m sure it s at least partly to do with that, to do with preparing for the change of pace, that I ve been getting this urge to order all these old memories† (Ishiguro, 34). Over the course of the novel, and as the film unfolds, the whole story is told in a series of flashbacks as Kathy reencounters her life. Kathy stumbles over every difficult memory as she grapples with her life while trying to gear up for donations. Living in the past may be easier to do rather than digest that her life has reached its peak. She has outlived Helsham, her best friends, and now is alone to watch over the dying and wait for her time to complete. The only way that she can go back and indulge in a time when things were somewhat easier is by reliving her memories. There she can experience her time with Tommy on repe at, and learn to muddle through all the things that she has lost and all that she has left. Kathy balances on the line of experiencing her past and living in it. Although she claims that when her time to complete is upon her she will welcome it and will comfort the rest from her memories, but it seems that she uses the past as a coping mechanism. The past is easier, she lived it, she had a good life and reliving it gives her a distraction from her impending fate. In Search of Room-Temperature Superconductors

Imagine a world in which magnetic levitation (maglev) trains are commonplace, computers are lightning-fast, power cables have little loss, and new particle detectors exist. This is the world in which room-temperature superconductors are a reality. So far, this is a dream of the future, but scientists are closer than ever to achieving room-temperature superconductivity. What Is Room-Temperature Superconductivity? A room temperature superconductor (RTS) is a type of high-temperature superconductor (high-Tc or HTS) that operates closer to room temperature than to absolute zero. However, the operating temperature above  0  °C (273.15 K)  is still well below what most of us consider normal room temperature (20  to  25  Ã‚ °C). Below the critical temperature, the superconductor has zero electrical resistance and expulsion of magnetic flux fields. While its an oversimplification, superconductivity may be thought of as a state of perfect electrical conductivity. High-temperature superconductors exhibit superconductivity above  30  K (−243.2  Ã‚ °C). While a traditional superconductor must be cooled with liquid helium to become superconductive, a high-temperature superconductor can be cooled using liquid nitrogen. A room-temperature superconductor, in contrast, could be cooled with ordinary water ice.   The Quest for a Room-Temperature Superconductor Bringing up the critical temperature for superconductivity to a practical temperature is a holy grail for physicists and electrical engineers. Some researchers believe room-temperature superconductivity is impossible, while others point to advances that have already surpassed previously-held beliefs. Superconductivity was discovered in 1911 by  Heike Kamerlingh Onnes in solid mercury cooled with liquid helium (1913 Nobel Prize in Physics). It wasnt until the 1930s that scientists proposed an explanation of how superconductivity works. In 1933, Fritz and Heinz London explained the Meissner effect, in which a superconductor expels internal magnetic fields. From Londons theory, explanations grew to include the  Ginzburg-Landau theory (1950) and microscopic BCS theory (1957, named for Bardeen, Cooper, and Schrieffer). According to the BCS theory, it seemed superconductivity was forbidden at temperatures above 30 K. Yet, in 1986,  Bednorz and Mà ¼ller discovered the first high-temperature superconductor, a lanthanum-based cuprate perovskite material with a transition temperature of 35 K. The discovery earned them the 1987 Nobel Prize in Physics and opened the door for new discoveries. The highest temperature superconductor to date, discovered in 2015  by Mikhail Eremets and his team, is sulfur hydride (H3S). Sulfur hydride has a transition temperature around 203 K (-70  °C), but only under extremely high pressure (around 150 gigapascals). Researchers predict the critical temperature might be raised above  0  Ã‚ °C  if the sulfur atoms are replaced by phosphorus, platinum, selenium, potassium, or tellurium  and still-higher pressure is applied. However, while scientists have proposed explanations for the behavior of the sulfur hydride system, they have been unable to replicate the electrical or magnetic behavior. Room-temperature superconducting behavior has been claimed for other materials besides sulfur hydride. The high-temperature superconductor yttrium barium copper oxide (YBCO) might become superconductive at 300 K using infrared laser pulses. Solid-state physicist Neil Ashcroft predicts solid metallic hydrogen should be superconducting near room temperature. The Harvard team that claimed to make metallic hydrogen reported the Meissner effect may have been observed at 250 K. Based on exciton-mediated electron pairing (not phonon-mediated pairing of BCS theory), its possible high-temperature superconductivity might be observed in organic polymers under the right conditions. The Bottom Line Numerous reports of room-temperature superconductivity appear in scientific literature, so as of 2018, the achievement seems possible. However, the effect rarely lasts long and is devilishly difficult to replicate. Another issue is that extreme pressure may be required to achieve the Meissner effect. Once a stable material is produced, the most obvious applications include the development of efficient electrical wiring and powerful electromagnets. From there, the sky is the limit, as far as electronics is concerned. A room-temperature superconductor offers the possibility of no energy loss at a practical temperature. Most of the applications of RTS have yet to be imagined. Key Points A room-temperature superconductor (RTS) is a material capable of superconductivity above a temperature of 0  °C. Its not necessarily superconductive at normal room temperature.Although many researchers claim to have observed room-temperature superconductivity, scientists have been unable to reliably replicate the results. However, high-temperature superconductors do exist, with transition temperatures between  Ã¢Ë†â€™243.2  Ã‚ °C  and  Ã¢Ë†â€™135  Ã‚ °C.Potential applications of room-temperature superconductors include faster computers, new methods of data storage, and improved energy transfer. Essay about Internet Advertising - 1719 Words

Internet Advertising The November cover story for Newsweek was entitled â€Å"e-life† and the issue was dedicated to the many ways that the Internet is changing our lives and work. While the changes have affected many industries and many jobs, one of the biggest changes in marketing and sales is the rapid and unpredictable growth of Internet-based sales and advertising. Currently, many users benefit from the use of â€Å"free† email sites and Web-search portals, all of which are funded by revenues from banner advertising. (Sadly for these advertisers, many are increasingly able to ignore this stimulus). All types of businesses now want to reach an audience that is more consistently â€Å"logged on† to the Internet. If the Internet is where the†¦show more content†¦The same surveys cited above indicate that spending falls into the following categories: Percent of total advertising that is consumer-oriented: 30% Percent that is financial services-oriented 22% Percent that is computer-oriented 21% Percent that is new media-oriented 7% Percent that is telecommunications-oriented 7%[4] This information indicates that consumer-goods companies are spending more than advertisers from any other field, and with computer-oriented sites not included in the report, it makes the statistic all the more impressive: companies that want the mindshare of Internet users will need to spend more or find more innovative ways to reach consumers. The numbers presented above do nothing to help would-be advertisers know if their target audience is â€Å"wired.† One way to gauge your company’s status in the market is to look at your competitors: thus, who in the consumer and electronics space is doing the advertising? Most of the consumer-oriented ads come from the technology sites (the logical â€Å"early adopters† in this new medium). Nielsen//NetRatings ranked the top advertisers having the most banner ad impressions. The top five from the last week of May, 1999 were: Microsoft, Amazon, Thunderstone, CDNow, and LinkExchange.[5] Clearly, then, marketers in the non-technology areas such as groceries, toys, and banking will need to spend significantlyShow MoreRelatedAdvertising On The Internet : Internet1985 Words   |  8 PagesGiacomo Randazzo Ms. Blair English III 26 March 2015 Advertising on the Internet Most of the websites collect money through advertisement; websites collect a bunch of information about who visits the page that they use to target their advertisements to services and product that reflect his interests. Capital finance Australia limited is a subsidiary of the Westpac Banking Corporation that has paid penalties amounted to $ 493,000 after ASIC detected that the company is involved with breaching the customer under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act (NCA) in regard with the motor vehicle repossession. When the customers failed to meet the obligations related to repayment of their loan, the NCA required the lender to send a written notice for default that shall include the particular information regarding what they were thinking about their next steps, what are their remedy for the default and the obligations and rights of the customer (Erbenova et al. 2016). ASIC found that between March to June 2015, capital finance of Westpac: Failed to provide the customers default notices in 55 instances prior to starting the proceedings for enforcement for repossessing the vehicles under mortgage On three instances, they did not even provided they customers the required legal information explaining their rights and various options available to them under the required time period after repossession of the vehicles under mortgage (Rajapakse and Gardner 2014). Owing to the above, the consumers were not informed regarding their protection and legal rights when they were endangered of repossession of their car. As per the Deputy Chairman of ASIC, Peter Kell, the credit providers are responsible for providing the customers with necessary information who are having difficulties in repayments as repossession of car has great impact on the consumers and the financiers are responsible for providing key information. The chief Executive of Westpac, Mr. Frazis held responsible for attending the court for hearing of the case. However, capital finance already started contacting the affected customers. And they provided the number for contacting that is 1300 300 309, if any customer think that they may get affected by above mentioned conduct (Palmer 2014). 2. US seeks $2.1 billion from Bank of America in mortgage fraud case The government of US demanded an amount of $ 1.2 billion from Bank of America as the bank was found to be involved in the fraud associated with the defective mortgages sold through the countrywide unit. The government claimed that the program of Countrywide highlighted and rewarded the employees for the quantity of loan issued, rather than the quality of loan and removed the designed checklist for ensuring that the provided loans were sound. Evidence shows that Countrywide earned $ 165.20 million through selling the loans to the consumers (Urban 2015). The government asked the judge to calculate the maximum amount for charging the penalty to punish the defendants for their bad faith and culpability and teach a lesson to the executives and institutions who will engage in similar kind of fraudulent scheme of mortgage. Initially the amount of penalty was just $ 863.6 million that were calculated based on the gross losses. The new request for $ 2.1 billion was calculated based on the abs ence from the hearing by the executives of Bank of America. However, the Bank of America spokesperson, Lawrence Grayson told that the claim was not related to the limited programme of Countrywide that lasted for several months and ended even before the acquisition of Countrywide by Bank of America (Zingales 2015). A federal jury from New York during October found that the Bank of America and the former mid-level executive Rebecca Mairone at Countrywide were liable for the fraud in civil lawsuit. Bank of America stared scheduling to respond the motion of the government on February 26, 2014 and the oral argument scheduled on March 13, 2017 The outcome of both the cases was properly intervened by the court and both the banks that is, Westpac bank and Bank of America has taken steps to communicate with their customers those are involves in the cases (Fligstein and Roehrkasse 2016). Conclusion The Westpac breach case in Australia lead to important aspect for the procedure of loan assessment in combination with the customer understands. Specifically, the mortgages under the interest-only segment were started to get assessed in the same manner as per the interest loan and standard principle. Moreover, the customers were started getting protection under the National Credit Act that stipulated that the providers of credit must carry out reasonable inquiries regarding the financial situation of the borrower and evaluate if the contract of the loan is suitable or not. On the other hand, the mortgage case of Bank of America led to strict regulation for issuing the of mortgage loan. The quality of loan is given more importance as compared to the quantity of loan. As in the case of Bank of America, where the staffs were getting paid for the quantity of loans issued, rather that the quality of loan, now more importance are given for the quality and the credibility of the borrower ar e assessed carefully to evaluate that whether the borrower is eligible to get the loan and make the repayment or not. Management Consultancy and Toolkit

Question: Discuss about the Management Consultancy and Toolkit. Answer: Introduction The modern world has provided business organization with scopes of expansion as well as confronted its growth with several management issues. In addition to developing competencies, companies now focus on ensuring a safe and sound degree of performance as well. According to Desai (2013), it is noted that every other firm is now confronted with an extensive competition and is thereby forced to actively indulge in solving existing issues. It is noted that a positive change in the market conditions has allowed enterprises to concentrate on serving the people in a much better manner, but also secure long term sustainability. In addition to focussing on adding value to a brand name, the management system also considers problem management. Moreover, in order to develop competencies, the managers also tend to work in collaboration with the taskforce (Sloan, Legrand and Chen 2013). A rise in the abilities significantly contributes towards solving problems of a brand. Concerning the United Arab Emirates, it is recognized to be the world`s one of the most rapidly developing nation`s across the globe. In the words of Cortese and Sahli (2015), with a diversity of resources, the country has successfully ensured its optimum utilization and has further provided the business firms to maximize capabilities not only at the domestic but also at the international level. However, it is noted that the hospitality industry is faced with several issues that has significantly affected profitability. There has been a noticeable fluctuation in the internal management of hospitality brand over UAE in the last few years. It is noted that a downfall of abilities has consequently affected developmental levels. The widespread develop of the nation has attracted visitors from all around the world (Morris and Kazi 2016). It is noted that a significant rise in the tourism industry has led to a consequent rise in the hospitality sector as well. For this particular project, UAE`s well known organization named Abu Dhabi National Hotel has been taken into consideration. Being founded about four decades ago, the brand now runs successfully in the nation and is also known as one of the most recognizable hotel in the world. It is noted that the hotel runs as a joint venture with a UK based Compass Group PLC (Adnh.com. 2016). Like every other business firm, the ADNH is also confronted with several issues that affect business development process. Being an attention grabbing aspect, there has been a identification of several problem solving aspects that has acted as helping hand towards dissolving issues (Adnh.com. 2016). Additionally, the report tends to analyze the existing issues in the brand and lend a hand towards solving them. In addition to several conceptual models, problems solving approach and analysis of the intervention, the project also includes a detailed insight of the problem and its degree of impact. Literature Review According to Assaf and Barros (2013), United Arab Emirates is known for its widespread hotel and accommodation business sector. Being one of the most famous tourist destinations, the nation has provided brands with various growth opportunities. The cosmopolitan natured country is also known for the several rapidly progressing brands. In addition to hotel reports, studies conducted by experts reveal the extensive range of operational activities. Like every other company performing in the country, the hotel firms are also confronted with various external and internal issues (Kolb 2014). Apart from mitigating the negative externalities, the internal problems are also a huge concern for the highly experienced team of enterprises. It is noted that hospitality companies unlike the other business sectors have a diversified concept, which ultimately gives rise to several individual issues (Ahmad and Saber 2015). Moreover, the industry in UAE has been experiencing increased number of management issues that has become the concern of the managers. The recent report of the Abu Dhabi National Hotels (ADNH) infers that the company has been struggling with the organisational performance since 2012. The performance of the company has fallen drastically that has further reduced the profitability of the company. As stated by Cortese and Sahli (2015), in order to gain an entry into the organisational management issues and its impact, a thorough analysis of the organisation including its financial status, market analysis is performed. Business Management Issues and Effect As stated by Ahmad (2015), there has been a noticeable fluctuation in the internal management of hospitality brand over UAE in the last few years. It is noted that a downfall of abilities has consequently affected developmental levels. Most of the organisations in the hospitality sector face some of the common issues of management that hampers the organisational performance and the sustainability of the organisation in the market. There involves conflict in the accountability of the organisation which are difficult and unpleasant to handle by the managers. Moreover, other issues that the organisations face is the issue related to the effective establishment of clear and measurable objectives for the employees to work on. In the opinion of Sternberg and Frensch (2014), optimising the objectives of the employees are a common issue as well as a partial answer to the accountability of the organisation. In the recent times, Abu Dhabi National Hotel has been going through a number of managerial issues that are a result of various factors and managerial decisions. Being one of the well-known companies in the hospitality sector of UAE, the company is managed by a line of managers (Carnmarata, McArthur and Steeb 2014). The major decisions that the organisation considers has a significant impact on the business activity of ADNH. The company had announced that the former IHG and Accor senior executive Ignace Bauwens would be appointed as the new CEO of the company. The new CEO aimed to increase the value of the brand and the stakeholder of the company under his leadership and guidance. As the organisational position was unstable, the new CEO tried to strengthen the commitment of ADNH with the people, quality, strategy and the development of the company. As opined by Dekker et al. (2013), the main issues that Abu Dhabi National Hospitals is facing are the lack of labour and the skills in the organisation. There is a growing shortage of the skilled and qualified employees in the organisation. Therefore, the productivity of the employees reduces along with the organisational productivity as a whole. Furthermore, the construction and renovation cost of the company has increased at a steady pace that lead to the decline in the profit margin. Even if the sales revenue of ADNH remained nearly constant, the increased expenses of operation brought down the profit margin of the company (Adnh.com. 2016). According to R. Huscroft et al. (2013), the failure of the management system to identify the new technology available in the market also adds to the management risk as the competitors of the company go ahead of ADNH. Concerning the human resource management, the psychographic and behavioural aspect also tends to be affecting performance levels of the taskforce. Further, interpersonal conflicts tend to affect business conditions as well. A decrease in social concepts often leads to a downfall in motivation, morale and engagement levels of employees. Additionally, an opaque communication between the management levels also acts as a hurdle in developing capabilities (Hoque 2013). Further, the employee development is a huge neglected area in the organisation (Heizer, Render and Munson 2016). The employee satisfaction level within the workplace indicates that the managers of ADNH do not effectively meet the development needs. This further leads to disengagement of the employees into the organisational activities and employee retention issues. Based on the public produced reports, it can be understood that labour shortage, construction costs and financial aspects has been in an unstable conditions over the last few years. Robin Hansons theory of consultancy The theory argues on the fact that why the firm does seeks the assistance of the big consultancy firms for business management when most of the effective ideas and strategies are obtained from young generation. The consultancy firms take the help of these youth to collect data on the best practices. As per the theory, the firms have misallocations of resources that cause most of the employees working for the company to get an idea about the issues of the organisation and the workable situation. The issues in the organisation increases when the individuals of the organisation who have the high status are likely to remain resistant to the changes. One of the reasons behind remaining resistant is that they observe lowering of their individual status by adapting to those changes. Furthermore, most of the consultants underestimates the firms and considers them to be dysfunctional. The managers of the organisation are able to identify the needs but are usually unable to address those needs . The coalition can therefore play an effective role in blocking the initiative of the managers. Problem Addressing In order to detect internal problems the management of ADNH tends to develop a free flow of communication between the heads and their staff members. Further, a service desk also used to learn about the stakeholders (Park and Allen 2013). The system of automated detection has also been fruitful in locating problems. The topic of problem management in the hotel industry has evolved to be one of the most concerning issues. Additionally reactive and proactive generation of service operation has also been taken into consideration by the supervisor. Problems can be detected in the following ways: Communication : According to Kotas (2014), a two way channel is emphasized by the manager of hotels. In addition to providing targets, orders, and every other necessary information to the employees, a transparent connection requires a feedback. Additionally exchanges of data with the external world and learning about the competitor or the market as a whole also have a detecting problem. Production reports: It is often that managers refer to the production quality and target reports to learn about the prevailing situation of the brand. Moreover the departmental supervisor is also kept under a continuous monitoring system which not only guides them but also helps in identifying areas of gap. Comparing the achieved the production it the previous years and the forecasted results proves to be helpful. Financial reports : Hotel business tends to function and carryout operational activities within a plan and mutually accepted financial budget. Also, the seals and profit statement are used to identify pitfalls in an organization (Lockyer 2013). When compare with the earlier physical reports the present situation helps the management to understand the areas of problem. Customer feedback : Among all other methods the customer feedback are considered to be the most impacting and beneficial aspect for detecting issues. Additionally it is inferred that the clients form the most important take holders of a company. Hotels in UAE tend to prioritize the visitor`s individual concern and feedbacks for improvement. According to Wang, Chen and Chen (2012), it is noted that hotel brands maintain a continuous check on progress levels to ensure a smooth and secured growth area. Further, the aspect of problem management has evolved to be one of the most impacting and decision affecting factors in the business world. Apart from the mainstream issues, hotels are also confronted with several security concerning aspects. In addition to focussing on a well planned training and development of the stakeholders, managers also tend towards securing legal and lawful constraints. Further, it is noted that safety minded customers also noticeably contribute in addressing the prevailing issues (Hicks 2013). Identification of problems is a great concern for the well reputed Abu Dhabi National Hotel. As compared to the small scaled problems in the daily functioning of the hotel, the management issues tend to be a concerning area for the brand. Collecting Information Like every other business firms, the ADNH also focuses on collecting information to learn about the internalities of the brand. It is noted that the managers work in collaboration with the employees to monitor growth and further check on pitfalls. Additionally, there lay several methods in which information can be collected. Being a largely expanded firm, the hotel have access to expertise and skilled experts who not only help in gathering information and identifying lacking areas, but also concentrates on restoring situations (Abe and Kudo 2016). The various ways in which data can be collected are the following: Surveys: The mail assessment of internal stakeholders help in understanding areas of pitfalls. As stated by Egan (2013), being a non time consuming aspect and covering a large number people at a single time, the process tends to be fruitful for business. Additionally, the objective interpretation and standardization also helps the managers to detect internal problems. It is noted that the surveys are often mail bases, group oriented and telephonic. Interviews: The departmental interviews provide managers with individual perspectives and more detailed insights. Further, the well panned and organized enquiry also tends to identify gaps in the business framework. Despite of being a time consuming and expensive method, the interviews contribute towards developing conditions as well. Focus Groups: The management of ADNH often tend to set up individual groups that help in interpreting interviewed forms (com. 2016). In addition to the cooperative method, the responses of an individual tend to guide decision making of others as well. Moreover, the time consuming process also noticeably contributes towards developing situations (Egan 2013). Observation: A close framed monitoring of gains and performance levels helps the management of the brand to provide necessary information. With a motive to identify areas of gap and fill them up, the supervisors opt to observe the functional areas as a whole. Being a diversified subject, problems in ADNH are monitored by the management team. Further, the taskforce are also monitored by the managers of the firm not only to provide them with a proper guidance, but also to check on their growth levels. Additionally, the team problems and organization based issues are a subject to the automated monitoring systems as well. In the words of Koripadu and Subbaiah (2014), it is noted that an integration of technology has allowed the hotel to successfully check functioning of the tracking systems as well. Consultancy Process and Approach As opined by Stoverink et al. (2014), the individuals in the organisation are often blamed for the ineffective work and the inefficiency although the issues are mainly caused due to the poor work processes in the organisation. The flaws in the management system can thus be held responsible for the poor work process of the organisation. The implementation of the consultancy process and the approach is useful in the scenario as the goal of the process is to minimise the mistakes made by the individuals while working in the organisation, reduce the miscommunication and increases the focus of the stakeholders on their particular roles and its requirements. The consultancy process is thus beneficial for the organisation as it allows the managers to achieve diverse benefits beyond cost savings and increasing the value of the stakeholders. According to N. Torres and Kline (2013), the process and the approaches of consultancy reduces the time to market the new products or services offered by the company and boost up the morale and productivity of the employees. According to Wolfe, Phillips and Asperin (2014), the consultancy process and the approach that the managers of ADNH can implement in order to deal with the issues in the management system of the company and thereby increase the organisational development include four basic models. The four basic consultancy models are expert model, medical model, process model and the emergent model. The Expert model: The expert model is one of the most used models in the organisation among the other consultancy models. As stated by Sturdy, Wylie and Wright (2013), the model mentions that the managers of the organisation decides to involve some internal or external individual into the organisation in order to deal with the needs of the company and fulfil those needs. The individual plays an important role, as it is their responsibility to draft a report recommending solutions to fix the issues faced by the organisation. The expert model is effective as it can be used to fix issues related to technical issues such as engineering, financial, mechanical and the managerial issues of the company. The success of the model depends on various factors such as whether the internal or the external individual responsible for recommending solutions and strategies to the company has been able to understand the needs or issues appropriately. The effective communication of the need or issues of the company to the consultant also play an important role. The assessment of the capabilities of the consultant is also one of the factors. It is further to be noticed that the approaches, strategies and the actual recommendation considered by the expert fits the organisation, the culture, internal and the external structure of the organisation. Jeston and Nelis (2014) further added that the model gives the expected outcome only when the organisation is ready to support the recommendation and implement that recommendation into the workplace. It is important to ensure whether the formal and the informal political dynamics create hindrance for the company or support the organisation in the process of development. As stated by Davenport (2013), despite of being an interdependent aspect, the expert model tends to gather a lot of attention from the management of the firm. The expert help not only helps in developing competencies, but also lends a hand towards supporting individual ideas and initiatives. Moreover, it is noted that there is a smooth process of decision making in presence of the aspect in the hotel framework. The additional knowledge and understanding significantly helps in developing competencies. As compared to the other methods, managers emphasize on the use of the expert model due to its practical and real approach. The Medical Model: As per the medical model, the managers of the organisation consider to bring in a consultant into the workplace who will keep a check on the organisational activities to ensure whether the stakeholders of the company are working effectively or not. The consultant is responsible for carrying out both diagnosis and prescription for the organisation. The model is appealing to the managers as the responsibilities lies with the consultant and not with the management for the success. The tools and the methods that are known to the consultants are only used in the process. As per the assumptions of the model, the consultant itself can carry out the accurate information about the diagnosis. The tools that are used in the process that effectively fit into the situation and the culture of the organisation are the standard, prescribed, and off-the-shelf assessment tools. Moreover, the model considers that the stakeholders of the organisation will not exaggerate, distort or withhold information from the consultant, as doing so will cause faulty diagnosis by the consultant. However, the model confidently assumes that the stakeholders of the company will automatically accept the diagnosis done and the recommendations provided. This is one of the loopholes as it is not the scenario always. While, it is also noted that the external or internal consultant often tends to look forwards towards locating issues and helping the management in taking decisions concerning its health regaining. Acting as a doctor, the expert frames perceptions and ultimately helps the ho tel mangers to develop conditions. The Process Model: In the opinion of Jeston and Nelis (2014), the process model of the consultancy process is a part of activities that supports the managers of the organisation to perceive, understand and act on the events of the process that takes place in the organisation so as to enhance the situation. The process includes a chain of micro-processes that are interconnected to each other and helps in the development of readiness and ownership. In order to create the required degree of responsibility and the accountability in the process of change and development so that the profitability of the on-going success is improved, the ownership is developed. Being a series of processes that help a consultant in solving issues, problem management and developing business conditions, the model tends to facilitate decision making as well. Despite of being an inter-related aspect, the management of the hotel form several assumptions, organize a separate expertise team and regularly learn about consultancy. The necessary assumption of the model is that one of the main functions of the model is to pass on the diagnosis skills and the skills to resolve the problems of the organisation effectively. This helps the managers of the company to deal with the issues even in the future times. The model focuses on the joint diagnosis and it supports the managers to understand what the information infers to the organisation. The change in the development process can be designed according to the organisation and as per the strategic focus, issues, and dynamics, driving factors, culture, critical success factors and the external environment of the company. Furthermore, Stoverink et al. (2014) supported the model by stating that the organisation can obtain more effective results if they diagnose the issues on their own and lead their individual intervention to address the issues. The company can develop new competencies by mutually engaging and forming partners with the Process consultancy consultant. The Emergent Model: There are two elements that are discussed in the emergent model of the consultancy approach are the chaos theory and the complex adaptive system. The chaos theory studies the behaviour of the dynamic system within the workplace that is too sensitive to the initial conditions. According to Barber and Deale (2014), the theory explains that a little difference in the initial condition results in diverging outcomes for the chaotic system. It is noted that the ongoing process not only holds up a differentiation between the functional processes, but also unfolds openness, discovery and invention. Further, the practice of the model significantly helps in developing new work patterns, power technologies, set up social engagement, promote creativity and further solve problems. The complex adaptive system of the approach is adaptive networks that are influenced by the internal and the external factors in an systematic manner. The network constantly evolves in the dynamic, fluid and chaotic environment. The metaphysical postulant assumes that there exist two things in the same place and the time. The system consists of different heterogeneous agents and each of these agents creates decisions regarding how to behave. The model further states that the decisions in the organisation evolve over the time. The agents in the model interact with one another and the interaction leads to real way where the overall system is higher than the sum of the parts. The skills that are required in the consultancy process are the sales skills, communication skills, analytical skills, ability to synthesize, capability to take up initiatives, computer skills, creative ability and the skills to give effective labour. These skills are very necessary to so to achieve the expected results from the implementation of the consultancy process and approach in the organisation. Intervention Analysis The management issues that ADNH faces needs to be effectively addressed so that the impact of the issues can be minimised and the profit level of the company is improved. In order to do so the consultancy process is required to be conducted appropriately. The consultancy process thus involves five phases that are implemented within the organisation. The relationship-based consulting model follows a logical progression of the activities and the behaviour of the organisation. The first phase of the process refers to the entry and contracting. Hicks (2013) opined that the step begins as there is a establishment of relation between the consultant and the organisation. This relationship helps to understand whether the skills of the consultant are appropriate to address the needs and the issues of ADHN or not. The process of clarifying the expectations of the efforts and the characteristics are also a part of the process. The second phase of the consultancy process includes the discovery and the dialogues. Discovery can be considered as a systematic approach that can be used to gain the required information about the organisation (Proctor 2014). The dialogue is a process that includes the collaboration between the consultant and the members of the organisation in order to gain the information from the information that are gathered in the overall process. The third phase of the process is the feedback and the decision to act. The managers of the company and the consultant come into mutual understanding regarding the meaning of the analysis and the areas that are to be focused for the upcoming activities. Thereby, the managers of ADHN decide on how to act with the help of the consultant. The fourth phase of the process is the engagement and the implementation of the recommendations. In the organisation, certain activities in the service of the goal are carried out. The activities can be either performed or guided by the consultant. The last phase of the process is the extension, recycle or the closure of the process. Once the activities are completed, the managers of the company and the consultants review the progress of the activities according to their intentions. If the work is completed, the consultant might close the complete process. However, if some other actions are to be performed, it is the phase where the negotiation about the contract needs to be done. The intervention or the evaluation of the process can be effectively performed if the effective implementation of the individual skills, team skills and the approaches used (Goetsch and Davi 2014). Conclusion Analyzing the several aspects of the project it can be inferred that firms in the hospitality industry greatly depend on their internal aspects. In addition to serving the people with a extraordinary experience, the management of the brand tends to fill up gaps in the business framework. Concerning, UAE the nation has achieved a diversified growth over the last few years. Moreover, it is also seen that a growth in a company has lead to an additional rise in several high impacting issues. The Abu Dhabi National Hotel (ADNH) being one of the most reputed brands has largely taken to fill up pitfalls. It is often that the managers of the firm work in collaboration with experts not only to implement several advanced techniques, but also to seek help in areas that require betterment concern. Moreover, it is noted that the firm also tends to collect necessary information that help in understanding areas of lacking. With a diversification of methodologies, the managers are likely to opt for the most benefitting ones that help in developing prevailing conditions. Furthermore, flaws of the management system and taskforce are often recognized as the root cause to problems in an organization. A study of the internal aspects of ADNH helps to understand the implementation of problem solving ways and its impact. Also, the goal and objectives are often regarded as the most basic medium that act as a backbone in decision making areas. In addition to the requirements of stakeholders, especially the customers, managers seek to focus on an optimum use of available resources that mitigate issues. Regarding the process model, the brand concentrates on adapting to the dynamic internal and external conditions. The virtuous circle that focuses on driving the future of brands is also referred to as the one of the most consultancy aspect. Among the various methods, communication, transparency, and development of mechanism help in improving situations. Moreover, a change in the functional attributes of an hotel`s business framework contribute towards enhancing problem solving and societal welfare. In addition to dissolving problems, the management of ADNH also tends to maximize sustainability concerns. It is only through a diagnosed problem solving which allows the firm to successfully integrate developmental measures. It can also be seen that a problem`s intervention into the hotel`s framework is also considered by the management. Being divided into four phases, the evaluation of the process can be effectively performed if the effective implementation of the individual skills, team skills and the approaches used. Scrutinizing the several aspects of the report it can be concluded that development of hotel businesses increasingly depend on internal characteristics. Further, it is through proper planning, managing, and coordinating that the internal issues can be solved in an easy manner. References Abe, M. and Kudo, M., 2016, June.
